Launch of the EU Action Plan on Wildlife Crime
On the 2nd March 2016 Catherine Bearder MEP hosted the launch of the EU's Action Plan against Wildlife Crime at the Yehudi Menuhin space in the European Parliament. Stolen Wildlife: Closing the Loopholes in the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations
The event will explore how the EU can strengthen its legislation to criminalise the import, purchase, and sale of non CITES-listed wildlife taken illegally in the country of origin, and it will build on the findings of the recent European Commission’s feasibility study on the criminalisation of the trade in illegally sourced wildlife. It will also feature the launch of the new Stolen Wildlife report co-authored by Pro Wildlife, Four Paws, IFAW, Humane World for Animals and WCS.
